<p>This study investigates the economic viability of and challenges faced by pepper farmers in the region. As a globally significant spice crop of immense culinary and economic importance, pepper contributes to nutritional health and accounts for approximately 40% of vegetable consumption in Nigeria, which yielded 762,174 tonnes of green chilies and peppers in 2020. The research aimed to describe the socio-economic characteristics of chili pepper farmers, assess profitability, and identify production constraints within Okene Local Government Area. Employing a multi-stage sampling technique, data were gathered from 99 respondents using structured questionnaires, personal visits, and interviews. Findings reveal that pepper production in Okene LGA is, on average, profitable, yielding a mean Net Farm Income (NFI) of ₦749,303.03, though significant variability exists, with some farmers experiencing losses. Key constraints identified include sole reliance on pepper farming, limited access to formal credit, and a lack of off-farm employment opportunities. Consequently, the study recommends targeted policy interventions—such as accessible microfinance, improved farm inputs, and stronger agricultural extension services—while emphasizing gender-sensitive development and income diversification to enhance rural sustainability and livelihoods.</p>Muazu MammanMubarak S.O.Jibril, A. <p>Bacterial resistance to water purification processes reflects the capacity of microorganisms to adapt to changing environments, necessitating a critical re-evaluation of bacterial resistance patterns in drinking water. Although sachet drinking water often contains detectable microbial loads, the potential role of inadequate disinfection procedures within quality control units is frequently overlooked. This study investigated ten samples from each of four popular brands of sachet drinking water (Teenerx, Danchiz, Wisdom, and Fountino table water) purchased within the study area in Nigeria. Isolation and enumeration of bacteria were performed using the spread plate technique, while morphological and biochemical characterizations were conducted to identify specific bacterial genera. The results revealed detectable concentrations of non-fastidious bacteria across the samples, with mean total viable counts of 1.0 x 10<sup>2</sup>, 7.0 x 10<sup>1</sup>, and 4.5 x 10<sup>2</sup> CFU/mL for Teenerx, Danchiz, and Fountino table water, respectively, showing statistically significant differences (<em>p</em> < 0.05). The isolated bacteria were identified as <em>Staphylococcus aureus</em>, <em>Staphylococcus epidermidis</em>, and Proteus spp., all of which exhibited sensitivity to chlorine alongside distinct biofilm-forming features. While chlorine susceptibility indicates effective protein denaturation, the expression of biofilm structures serves as a cellular defense mechanism that enhances bacterial persistence in water systems. Although these levels may technically comply with specific baseline colony-forming thresholds, the presence of opportunistic pathogens poses potential public health concerns that warrant strict regulatory oversight. Therefore, this study recommends a comprehensive reassessment of bacterial resistance traits and optimization of disinfection protocols in sachet water production to ensure consumer safety.</p>Amadi-Ikpa Chidi NDUKA

<p>This research investigates the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing critical environmental challenges in Benue State, Nigeria, specifically focusing on increasing flooding, deforestation, waste mismanagement, and unsustainable agricultural practices, collectively termed the "four environmental issues." Employing a descriptive survey design, data were gathered from a sample of 400 respondents across five local government areas selected via stratified random sampling using a structured questionnaire and were subsequently evaluated using descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive analysis revealed severe environmental challenges alongside a moderate level of awareness regarding various AI technologies, with respondents indicating a strong consensus on the potential of AI to enhance environmental management. Furthermore, regression analysis demonstrated a statistically significant positive relationship between AI adoption and environmental sustainability, while identifying infrastructural deficits, technical skill gaps, and policy limitations as primary adoption barriers. Anchored in the technology acceptance model, systems theory, and sustainable development theory, the study concludes that AI serves as a transformative catalyst for advancing environmental sustainability (SDGs 13, 14, and 15) in Benue State. <p>This study examined the implications of the "purok" system regarding educational support, environmental management, and disaster preparedness as perceived by secondary learners in Liloan, Cebu, during the 2025–2026 academic year. Utilizing a descriptive-correlative research design, the study involved 100 secondary learners from public high schools selected through purposive sampling to assess implementation levels, outcome levels, and their underlying relationships. Findings revealed that the purok system was generally perceived as less implemented in promoting educational support and disaster preparedness programs, though environmental initiatives showed moderate-to-active integration. Despite limited grassroots implementation across certain areas, learners demonstrated high levels of educational engagement and discipline, environmental awareness and practices, and disaster preparedness knowledge and readiness, indicating that community-level frameworks positively influence holistic student development. Furthermore, a moderate significant correlation was established between implementation levels and learner outcomes, suggesting that structured optimization can further amplify these benefits. <p>The complexity of contemporary global socio-economic challenges necessitates robust research systems, dynamic innovation ecosystems, and resilient collaborative networks to generate sustainable solutions. This article examines research and innovation systems, collaborative frameworks, and their impact on modern knowledge economies. Grounded in the Quadruple Helix Theory, Open Innovation Theory, and Knowledge Spillover Theory, the study investigates the interactions among universities, industries, governments, and civil society for knowledge generation, technology transfer, and economic development. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, quantitative data were gathered through surveys, while qualitative insights were collected from researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovation practitioners. The findings indicate that strong multi-stakeholder collaboration significantly enhances research productivity, accelerates innovation diffusion, fosters entrepreneurship, and optimizes policy outcomes, contributing to societal well-being and economic competitiveness. However, institutional barriers, funding constraints, poor policy implementation, and weak stakeholder linkages remain critical impediments to impact. Strengthening research capacity, cultivating inclusive innovation ecosystems, and institutionalizing collaborative frameworks are essential to achieving sustainable development goals and driving lasting economic transformation. <p>The Twin Panyam volcanoes of the Jos Plateau, north-central Nigeria, constitute one of the most prominent centers of Neogene–Quaternary alkaline volcanism within the Benue–Cameroon Volcanic Province. This study integrates petrographic, whole-rock geochemical, and mineral thermobarometric data to constrain the petrogenetic evolution and magmatic conditions of the Panyam volcanic system. Field observations and thin-section analyses reveal porphyritic to intergranular textures dominated by olivine, augite, labradorite, and Fe–Ti oxides, consistent with basaltic to trachybasaltic magma compositions. Whole-rock geochemistry classifies the lavas as alkaline basalts characterized by elevated total alkali contents (Na₂O + K₂O). Mineral-based geothermobarometric estimates yield crystallization temperatures of 800–1,000 °C and pressures of 6–9 kbar, indicating magma storage within upper-mantle to lower-crustal depths. These results suggest that the Twin Panyam volcanoes evolved through fractional crystallization of an alkaline basaltic magma derived from a mildly enriched lithospheric mantle source. Generally, the findings enhance current understanding of post-Miocene volcanic processes on the Jos Plateau and provide insights into its broader geodynamic connection with the Cameroon Volcanic Line.</p>Achuenu IfeanyiLekmang, ISAH CLar, U. <p>This study examines the determinants of organizational performance, with a specific focus on key managerial and strategic factors. The objective was to identify significant predictors of organizational performance and assess their relative influence using empirical evidence. Employing a quantitative research approach, primary data were gathered from 250 respondents selected via appropriate sampling techniques using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression. The regression results demonstrate a strong, positive relationship between the independent variables and organizational performance, with the coefficient of determination indicating that 78.1% of the variation in organizational performance is explained by the combined effect of the explanatory variables. Furthermore, the model is statistically significant and explains a substantial proportion of the performance variance. The findings reveal that strategic decision-making, innovation orientation, and talent development exert positive and statistically significant effects on organizational performance, implying that organizations excelling in these areas achieve superior outcomes across financial and non-financial dimensions. Consequently, the study recommends that organizational leaders strengthen evidence-based strategic decision-making, foster a culture of innovation, and implement systematic talent development programs to enhance long-term competitiveness and sustainability.</p>yaregal tilahun

<p>This study examined the influence of teachers’ perceptions of positive discipline intervention support on their classroom management at Liloan National High School, Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu, Philippines during the academic year 2025–2026, serving as a basis for a targeted action plan. Employing a descriptive-correlative research design, the study involved 50 teachers selected through convenience sampling who completed an adopted questionnaire to assess their implementation levels of support and classroom management, as well as the relationship between them. The findings revealed that teachers highly implemented positive discipline intervention support across dimensions such as clarity of rules and expectations, consistency in applying positive discipline measures, effectiveness in conveying information, and support mechanisms. Furthermore, teachers perceived their classroom management as usually effective across dimensions, including discipline, lesson organization, lesson interaction, teacher-student personal communication, and the psychological and social classroom environment. <p>This study investigated adultery, emotional abuse, and domestic violence as key predictors of divorce, driven by the rising prevalence of marital instability and the need to comprehend the combined impact of relational stressors within the Nigerian sociocultural context. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive survey design, the population comprised married men and women in the study area, with a sample size of 392 respondents determined using the Taro Yamane formula via a multi-stage sampling technique. Data were gathered using a validated instrument entitled the Infidelity, Emotional Abuse, Domestic Violence, and Marital Dissolution Questionnaire (IEDVMDQ), which demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient greater than 0.70. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics at a significance level of 0.05. The results revealed that all variables exceeded the criterion mean of, indicating that infidelity (aggregate mean = ), emotional abuse (aggregate mean = ), and domestic violence (aggregate mean = ) significantly impact marital breakdown. Domestic violence emerged as the strongest predictor, followed by emotional abuse and adultery, while the combined effect of these factors substantially predicted marital dissolution among married couples. These findings underscore the multifaceted nature of marital instability and the critical need for coordinated therapeutic strategies. The study concludes that adultery, emotional abuse, and domestic violence are deeply intertwined factors driving marriage breakup in the Delta North Senatorial District, thereby recommending the implementation of targeted counseling programs, public awareness campaigns, and robust policy measures.</p>Odimegwu Faithman Okwukwe

<p>Conventional zeolite manufacturing incurs escalating environmental and economic costs driven by costly reagent-grade precursors, energy-intensive autoclaved heating, and organic structure-directing agents requiring high-temperature calcination, which collectively generate significant waste and emissions. To address these issues, zeolites—defined as crystalline microporous aluminosilicates with well-defined pore architectures that underpin their widespread industrial utility as catalysts, adsorbents, and ion exchangers—are the focus of recent advancements. This review critically examines green and sustainable synthesis by focusing on two interconnected strategies: waste-derived aluminosilicate feedstocks such as coal fly ash, volcanic ash, kaolin, and waste glass as sustainable silica and alumina sources; and energy-efficient synthesis routes including microwave-assisted, solvent-free, and seed-assisted methods that dramatically lower crystallization time and energy consumption. Furthermore, the review analyzes the vital roles of alkaline fusion pre-treatment, structure-directing agents, Si/Al ratios, and gel compositions in precisely controlling framework type and crystallinity under sustainable constraints.
