Counseling to Increase Adolescent Knowledge About Propionibacterium acnes Bacteria on Skin Health

Adolescence is a phase when an individual experiences a process of change both physically, biologically, psychologically, and socially. This phase is an important process in building self-confidence in interacting with family, friends, and the surrounding environment. Teenager will begin to notice and worry about the changes that occur in themselves, such as their physical appearance. The physical changes that have a major impact on adolescence are when acne or pimples appear, especially on the face. For this reason, it is necessary to provide socialization about knowledge about acne, prevention, and treatment appropriately and efficiently. The implementation method is by lecture method, Q&A/discussion, and demonstration. After the counseling in the form of material: characteristics of adolescent skin, problems that often appear on adolescent skin, acne, Propionibacterium Acnes bacteria, prevention and treatment of acne. The expected results are that teenagers will know the procedures for preventing and treating acne appropriately and efficiently. The conclusion is that counseling activities can increase adolescent knowledge about acne-causing bacteria and the procedures for preventing and treating it appropriately and efficiently.
